Thread Milling

A worm shaft sets the mesh for the whole drive, so its lead and thread form have to stay concentric to the bearing journals. We thread mill worm shafts up to 12" OD and 54" long, in pitches from 2 DP and up, establishing concentric datums by turning and milling before the thread is cut.

Every worm is cut to print for new applications, or reverse-engineered from a worn sample for a rebuild.
