Splined Shafts
A splined shaft has to transmit torque through the spline flanks and still let the mating part slide or index, so the tooth thickness and spacing have to be held to a fit that is neither tight enough to bind nor loose enough to wear. We hob and shape involute and straight-sided splines, and can cut spur or helical gears onto the same shaft.
Every shaft is built to print for new applications, or reverse-engineered from a worn sample for a rebuild. We machine them in ferrous and nonferrous materials, with shaft bodies turned to length on our large-capacity lathes.
